| Sunshine Preschool is located in a
safe neighborhood setting of Hopkinton, Massachusetts.
Extensive renovations have made this house into a cozy learning
environment for children. We have a security and alarm system that is
connected directly to the fire and police station. The building
has exceeded all the required building codes for an early
childhood center. |

The school atmosphere is warm and
inviting. Each room has a teacher area as well as interest centers, such as
art, blocks, discovery,
dramatic play, library, music & movement, sand & water,
and toys & games. We have a kitchen for
cooking projects and three bathrooms that may include a child-sized
toilet and sensor faucets for better health and hygiene .

| Within the classroom, each teacher has
a specific corner or area where she holds her small group time.
This is the time when she presents specific, developmentally-appropriate readiness activities in a fun and pleasing manner. The
children in her group have their own mailboxes in her corner and
other visual cues that encourage their sense of belonging. |

center is the place for dough creations, easel paintings,
and sand and water play. We encourage the enjoyment of the
process, not the product! |

Outdoor play is like being in a big
backyard. Children have a large open space to run and engage
in the variety of activities offered. The entire yard is
surrounded by a 6' wooden fence, with a grassy area and paved section for wheeled toys.
The fall zone area is covered with
pea stone, a clean, safe material that is the best medium we have
experienced. There is a large climbing gym, slides, large
sandbox and freestanding sand table, picnic tables, riding toys, and other outdoor
equipment. We have met or exceeded the fall zone requirements for
outdoor play equipment.

| We have our field trips at school.
Special visitors come to Sunshine with their special talents or
equipment. Some of our most enjoyable visits have been from
local Community Helpers, such as police officers, firefighters,
dental workers, and medical personnel.

In our community, we are fortunate to have lots of great preschools to chose from. Before settling on a particular school and because of all the choices, I knew that it was important to visit various schools in order to find the right environment for my son. After visiting several schools, there was no doubt that Sunshine Preschool would be the perfect match for my family.
One of the most important reasons I chose Sunshine and have stayed there is because of their commitment to learning through play. I have truly felt that Sunshine has met all the standards for learning and has challenged my child each year. More importantly, I have felt that Sunshine has never forgotten what is age appropriate and what is not.
Another aspect I have loved about Sunshine is the importance they place on teaching their students to become independent. I will never forget how proud my son was to show me how he could put on his own coat or to tell me about one of his assigned jobs. A simple task like being the train leader would make his day!
When choosing Sunshine I knew it was a program he could grow with. I loved the fact that my son has had both the structure and guidance from his own teachers and also had the freedom to explore the other classrooms and play with other children during free times. I have enjoyed watching the development of his self portraits from something unrecognizable to an actual body with a smiling face. I have also loved to see his letter development and overall confidence grow.
When I dropped my son off on the very first day at Sunshine Preschool I cried for obvious reasons. When I picked him up on the last day of school, I cried because of how proud I was of him and how grateful I was to everyone at Sunshine for making his experiences there so wonderful. Sunshine has been perfect first educational experience for our family. I can't wait for my daughter to start there next fall.

Sunshine Preschool is such a warm and welcoming environment. The curriculum provides clear and developmentally appropriate social and academic goals for the children. The faculty and staff are nurturing, compassionate, engaging, and professional. Our daughter loves her time at Sunshine Preschool and was able to make new friends while being challenged academically. As a parent and educator, Sunshine Preschool was the perfect choice for our daughter. Our other children can’t wait to go.
