Christine Martin, Owner/Director
Christine has extensive experience and expertise in the field of child
development and early childhood education. She received her B.A.
in Child Study from St. Joseph's College in Hartford, CT, and a
Master of Science degree in Early Childhood Education from
Wheelock College in Boston, MA.
Christine is the founder and
owner of Sunshine Preschool in Hopkinton, MA, which has been in
operation for over 30 years. She is currently a reviewer for the
state of Massachusetts to approve Continuing Education Courses for teaching professionals.
Christine was a validator for the National Association for the Education of Young Children. Christine
was also an
active member of the Hopkinton/Ashland Community Partnership for
Children and a trainer for the Massachusetts Department of Education for
Early Childhood Programs and Standards, and is currently a trainer for Systematic Training for Effective
Parenting (S.T.E.P.)
Christine is an
educational consultant and has been a featured speaker on Child
Development at colleges and national conventions.

Liz Dacey
- Assistant
Director
Liz graduated from Middlebury College with a BA in Elementary
Education with continuing education in Early Childhood. Liz has
experience as a third grade teacher with the Northborough School
System and was a Pre-Kindergarten teacher for the Metro West
YMCA in Hopkinton. Liz is a member of the Central
Massachusetts Association of Early Childhood Directors, the
Framingham-based Directors' Collaborative, and the
National Association for the Education of Young Children.
Liz became the Assistant Director
after her years of teaching at Sunshine. She has
instituted a paperless information system and conducts
teleseminars for parent communication. She is part of the
administrative team that maintains the high-quality standards
required for our NAEYC accreditation and DEEC licensure.
Liz lives in Hopkinton with her husband, twin second graders, and
three year-old son. She has expertise, education and a warm
disposition that qualifies her as an effective teacher and
leader
.

Hilary Alford - Lead
Teacher
Hilary Alford is a
former Teacher's Assistant at Sunshine. She is currently
teaching one of our Tuesday-Thursday classes. She has
her Bachelor's degree in Sociology with additional studies in
the field of Education. She has two young children who are
former
students of Sunshine. Hilary brings with her enthusiasm
and knowledge of our Sunshine school routine and we are
thrilled to have her as part of our teaching staff.

Alice Bartlett - Lead
Teacher
Alice is certified as a Lead Teacher at Sunshine Preschool, and
has been associated with the school since 1986. Alice has an
A.S. degree in Early Childhood Education, which she
received summa cum laude. She is Director certified and is a member of the Phi Theta Kappa
International Scholastic Honor Society. Her prior
experience included being an executive assistant and mother to
two successful grown children. During her parenting years, she
was active in school activities including assignments as a scout
leader, soccer coach and classroom volunteer. Her love of
children and interest in education brought her into the Sunshine
family. Alice is a dedicated professional and we are
pleased to have her warm, creative energy at Sunshine!

Lyn
Calkins - Lead Teacher
We welcome Lyn as a
teacher for our morning Pre-Kindergarten sessions. She is
the parent of a Sunshine graduate and has preschool teaching experience
in both Southborough and Vermont. After college, she
focused on continuing education in the field of Child
Studies. She combines her love of teaching and sports in
her job as a tennis instructor for adults and children of all
ages. She and her husband and three daughters live in
Hopkinton and we welcome them back to our Sunshine family.

Stacy Hutchins -
Lead Teacher
Stacy is one of
our Pre-Kindergarten teachers.
Stacy
is a well-qualified educator with a Bachelors Degree in Early Childhood
Education and a Masters Degree in Special Education. She had
extensive preschool teaching experience before she took time
off to raise her family. Stacy recently received her
Director certification from the Massachusetts Department of
Early Education and Care. We are
fortunate to have this energetic, personable, qualified teacher
on our Sunshine Preschool staff.

Sandra Murphy - Lead
Teacher
Sandra has been employed at Sunshine for 17 years. She
graduated from Boston University with a B.S. degree in Nursing and then
pursued Early Childhood Education courses and received her Early
Childhood Lead Teacher and Director certification. A busy mother of 2
sons, Sandra is also a former Cub Master of the Year and volunteers for
many church organizations and youth groups. Sandra started
at Sunshine as a Teacher's Assistant, School Nurse and now
classroom Teacher with Director certification. Her various areas of related experience are
an asset in her knowledge of child development. Sandra's positive
contributions are a plus for the children and fellow staff
members.

Gabriela Dunn - Teacher's Aide/Extended
Day Teacher
Gabriela Dunn is a long-time friend of Sunshine and has now
joined our staff as a Teacher's Assistant. We are thrilled
that she has taken on the additional role of Extended Day
Teacher, as well as continuing to teach Spanish to our three-day
sessions. Gabriela has worked as
a Spanish teacher for the Global Child program and is teaching
Spanish to our three-day classes. She has a Bachelor's Degree and has also been helpful to Sunshine in
designing our brochures and logos. She lives in Hopkinton with
her husband and two sons.

Susan Porter - Healthcare
Consultant
Susan has been part of Sunshine for over 30 years
-- her daughter
was in our school's first class. Susan became our
Healthcare Consultant, a position she still maintains. She graduated
from Boston University with a B.S. in Nursing and has been a
long-time friend of Sunshine, offering her time and expertise
to the school whenever she is needed.
